Everyday Hero for Cheshire CAC
Jessica Walker, NH Division for Children, Youth and Families, Keene District Office
Jessica Walker is an outstanding Child Protection Social Worker (CPSW) who works well with children and families in Cheshire County. She conducts comprehensive forensic interviews with children and works hard to ensure the safety of all children she works with. Jessica's advanced training in child maltreatment has increased her knowledge and confidence in providing the Monadnock Region Child Advocacy Center (MRCAC) with interviews that have led to successful prosecution of offenders and safety of children.
During Jessica's interviews at MRCAC, she quickly develops a rapport and engages children easily. Jessica explains the interview process to each child she talks with in a developmentally appropriate way. Jessica's quiet soft spoken voice allows her to make children feel a little more comfortable when they are at the MRCAC. In addition, Jessica always provides children and families with recommendations for community supports and services. She has wealth of knowledge of the resources available to families in the Cheshire County area and utilizes them often. Those parents who attend MRCAC meetings often feel comfortable talking with Jessica about their child's safety.
Jessica is a true team player and actively seeks the input from the other professional disciplines involved in a Child Advocacy Center. When Jessica was asked what it meant to her to be the first MRCAC Every Day Hero, she said "I truly feel that one single person should not be named in recognition, as the work that we all do is only one piece to the puzzle. Without the other team members and hard work, the puzzle cannot be completed. We all do the same work, day in and day out."
