New Hampshire's Everyday Heroes
Detective Rick Labell, Raymond Police Department
Detective Rick Labell with the Raymond Police Department is no stranger to overcoming adversity. As a child growing up here in New Hampshire, Rick Labell once wore the label of a child "at-risk." The product of a violent alcoholic family and a survivor of childhood molestation, Detective Labell draws on his own disastrous upbringing to drive his life's passion: helping young people and their families overcome adversity. With a 23 year law enforcement career under his belt (including former Chief of the Newton PD), Detective Labell has worked with countless disadvantaged teens and dysfunctional parents. This experience combined with a ten year stint as a drummer in a rock band, has afforded Rick the accumulated knowledge and expertise necessary to encourage and inspire young people. Through his motivational presentation "The Message in the Music," Rick Labell works with teens giving them the information necessary to resist becoming involved with drugs, alcohol and violence while at the same time allowing parents the opportunity to open up a true dialog with their children through their hobbies and interests.
According to Kathryn Adler, executive director of the Child Advocacy Center of Rockingham County, Detective Labell is an enormous asset to the CACRC's multidisciplinary team. His hard work and tenacious support for kids and families means Detective Labell's investigations are always above and beyond what is expected of him. Whether he's reaching out to families, children or other members of the multidisciplinary team, Detective Labell is a model team player.
Beloved by colleagues and members of the community alike, Detective Rick Labell is an everyday hero doing a heroes job everyday. Thank you Detective Labell!
